This goes way beyond “you are what you eat” with expert counsel on nutrition as medicine, healing your gut and your brain and reversing decades of awful guidelines …
Ho boy, we have been given so much advice on what to eat in our lifetimes … from fat-is-bad-carbs-are-good, to eat more fruit to pyramids and packaged foods, it is easy to see why we’re in such sad shape as a nation. Let’s see how we can simplify our choices and get back on track to diminish our chances of disease.
There is some good news in all the nutritional debates and discussions: the human body is incredibly resilient and you can recover from bad habits and lose weight without losing hope. You can also identify the ingredients that are setting you up for failure and a path to disease, pain, prescriptions-for-life.
And a lot of your choices for diet (not dieting) can be clouded with advice that includes “all foods in moderation” and “work in a cheat day.” You wouldn’t add a little water to your gas tank in moderation. The results would kill your engine. And if you’re willing to cheat yourself once or twice a week to stay happy, well we have some other rewiring to do there too.
Reprogramming Your Input
We will go into the bads and goods in the blog (see the Bad Habits post) so you can start to reprogram your ideas on what to put in your mouth and we will also discuss who/what is constantly offering you more of the choices that can lead to some of the killers we review in the Lifestyle Section.
But let’s be honest. Feeding people globally a diet based on sugars, seed oils, and factory-farmed grains, vegetables and meats is killing us and our environment. And it is all about the money we’re shoveling to big Food and big Pharma to fuel our addictions. If you are skeptical, watch any channel geared to sports, weather, news or finance (top choices for boomers) and you will see a constant barrage of ads for fast foods and prescriptions. One choice begats another, and if you are serious about making the second half of your life robust, it is time to change.
The professionals, systems and knowledge in the below resources are key to making changes and educating yourself so you can confidently step towards a new life that flat-out feels great.
